A Strategic Plan is a roadmap for a business to achieve its goals.
The key elements of a Strategic Plan are goals and actions.
Before initiating the action plan the company must develop
realistic, attainable and measurable goals.
The development of these goals requires that personnel within the
company review and fully understand: i) the external situation; ii) the
internal situation; and, iii) their own capabilities and competencies.
Assumptions must be made since no business can project the future
at 100% accuracy. The
assumptions segment of the planning process includes an analysis of both
the company’s opportunities and its
threats, and how these two elements can be capitalized on and minimized
respectively. These
activities lay the foundation for developing the strategies.
The process of developing the Strategic Plan involves the entire
company and requires the CEO’s full support and involvement.
All key employees must realize that this exercise will improve the
company and themselves and agree to work diligently at developing,
finalizing and implementing the Strategic Plan.
Sandon Enterprises facilitates this process and will write a
Strategic Plan using input from company personnel.
The steps in the process are well defined, including timelines and
employee participation. This
disciplined multi-step process involves a series of scheduled meetings and
assignments for the participants to complete between each meeting.
Once the realistic and attainable goals are established the action plan is
developed within a timeframe. The
Strategic Plan must be measured against actual performance periodically
and corrective actions taken where necessary.
